Maudlin
Mood
descends
like curtains on a final
act of some Shakespearean
tragedy.
Heavy
is the feeling that echoes
as silence. Suffocating
darkness, verging on impenetrable. Shadows
of belligerent light seep through.
Remnants of hope, unreachable,
taunt eyes that long to become
accustomed to the dominant
gloom.

A JH Huffman settles in a melancholy mode that leaves one character in the sonorous mood of bafflement.
